Beautiful Things: Kindness, Faith & Healing

Friends, My heart is heavy today as I remember the unconditional love I lost from two people on April 13, 2014. How do you replace that? Can you rightly count on other family members to fill it, completely? Is it fair to ask friends to fill the void? The vast void that debilitates me is the same void that pushes me to help others. Feeling the pain, the deep sorrow, the difficulty breathing…if you have lost a dear loved one, you know what I am describing. I sit in this painful space this morning and allow myself to remember. My father and son deserve my remembrance. Beautiful Things: Kindness, Faith & Healing

Kindness, Faith & Healing

Kindness – unconditional, revolutionary – Love. This is what it takes to move onward. Kindness and Love for myself, for others, and maybe for my enemies. (I have pity for the shooter, I cannot state I have love)

Faith – the scriptures I read from the Bible remind me that I am loved unconditionally by God. He is more than capable to fill the void. Hebrews 11:1 “Walk by faith, not by sight.” Romans 4:13 “Clearly, God’s promise to give the whole earth to Abraham and his descendants was based not on his obedience to God’s law, but on a right relationship with God that comes by faith.”

Healing – I find healing & peace knowing Dad and Reat are in Heaven. I find healing in learning how my friend Sunayana looks to her faith, Hinduism for her care. I find healing in learning from Mahnaz, Syed, Syeda, and Hibba about Islam and how their faith leads them to have such similar values to mine. I find healing talking with Alana, Gail, Ruth, Ellen, and Irv among many others who share their Jewish prayers with me, offering love, care, and strength.

I am thankful to learn that I can stand in my own faith and respect others, so much so that they heal me.
